I ran to Sephora the other day just to pick up a “few things” and ended up leaving with more (of course)! I grabbed a few of my go to’s, oldies but goodies and some new products!
My thoughts on these products
Huda Beauty Rose Gold REMASTERED eyeshadow palette: This was the first time i’ve ever tried this product and I must say, I was super happy about it. The pigment is exactly what you see is what you get. It was super easy to blend. The texture was great and long lasting. I would suggest (if you want the frost/shimmer to pop more apply product to your brush and spray a setting spray on it). You can say i’m super picky about eyeshadow palettes because theres so much to look for than just the color. I feel like as a professional makeup artist the product needs to be pigmented, no fall out, easy to blend, long lasting and definitely has to have colors that are versatile for all skin tones. In my opinion, this has reached my satisfaction. I would use this on clients and this will for sure be in my pile of go to shadows for myself! Side note: when you’re looking for a good eyeshadow make sure it’s all the things I listed above (in bold).
Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder: Staple product for my clients. If you’re looking for something that’s long lasting, this is a go to. I believe this product works great on so many people. For myself, I am not one of those people. I have normal to dry skin so when I’ve tried this in the past it was too drying for my skin. I do believe and have seen great results for my clients. It gives it an airbrush look. It’s definitely mattifying so if you have normal to oily skin this would be something to maybe try! Just because it doesn’t work for me doesn’t mean it doesn’t work for other people. I love this in my professional makeup kit- again, I use this for my normal to oily clients!
Huda Beauty Easy Bake Power & Setting Powder: Okayyyy! So i’ll be honest, I just tried this product and I love it. I literally have used the same setting powder under my eyes for years and i’m so glad I came across this. I’m all about discovering new products but my under eye setting powder was something I couldn’t change because I couldn’t find the right product for me. Well, this has to be my new go to. I love how finely milled and smooth this is. It lasts all day and doesn’t crease. Thumbs up for me.
Too Faced Born This Way: Anyone else have those “go to” foundations? This was one of them about 3 years ago. I think I kept trying new things and eventually just stopped using this one. This is an oldie but goodie in my book. I like a medium to full coverage foundation. This to me doesn’t feel cakey. After hours of wear it still looks good. If your wondering how it settles, I think it oxidizes the same as when it goes on. My current foundation I use is great for warmer months and humidity but with us going into fall I will change up my foundation and this will be my go to. Perfect coverage, long lasting and doesn’t dry me out. I can still get that dewy look too!
Tarte Amazonian Clay: CLAY. If that word doesn’t scare you away as one of the names of a foundation then keep reading. Although this foundation says full coverage (it does do its job) but I wouldn’t say “CLAY” like texture. As a consumer, reading the name would make me feel like this foundation is thick & heavy. This foundation is like a mousse texture. It is full coverage but in my opinion, its more buildable to full. The wear on this is good but i’ve tried better. I think it’s good for those who have normal to dry skin. What I do like about this is it doesn’t make (my skin) dry looking- i’m normal to dry. I tried this in the past, years ago and gosh, it's been so long I figured i’d give it another shot. My idea is to use this without the works of contouring & highlighting. Just a little bronzer and blush type thing. I’ll probably use this on mornings where I need to run out but look put together, lol. Mom life!
Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Duo & Brow Wiz: HOLY GRAIL. I can honestly say these 2 products are my favorite of all time. All great things to say so i’ll spare a lengthy description. Long lasting, doesn’t smear, doesn’t dry out. Is this in your cart yet? Should be.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Highlight & Contour Palette: Another staple product. I have never really been one to highlight and contour with cream. So if you are like me and like to highlight and contour with powder, this is a great go to. I also use the contour colors as eyeshadow transition shades.
